You see, so often I hear people saying 'perhaps'. Perhaps I will do well in my exams. Perhaps I will come to the party tomorrow. Perhaps I'll tidy my room.
P- Perhaps
It is all too easy to think about the worst case scenario. I think as much as we all pretend to be optimists, or try maybe, deep down we are all pessimists. It's just so easy, and so natural, to think so negatively. After all, something bad might happen. There's no denying that, and no avoiding it. It just is.
But a lot of things just are, and that's ok. We can accept it, and try to move past it.
Isn't it just so great to know these things though? To know for certain that we have bad thoughts.
Isn't it better to know?
But, even worse (in my opinion) - perhaps I would have enjoyed it, perhaps I would have gotten a good grade, perhaps it would have made me happy.
You know what, I'm fed up of perhaps. Because with a perhaps you will never know. Perhaps you would have enjoyed it. Do you know for certain you would have? No. But you do know for certain that you didn't, because you didn't do it- now there's no chance of having enjoyment from it.
Sometimes, things will be crap. But at least you will know they were crap, and won't have to wonder. And you never know, they might turn out better than expected.
So, a challenge for you this time; think of a (SAFE) situation you can't decide whether to attend. Write down your worries about it. Go for it! And report back again.
Wishing you many-a-'oops', and even more 'Yays', and many less 'perhaps' and 'what if's'.
