Verified
Being verified on twitter is one of the biggest goals for small celebrities. It's a sign they've made it. As soon as that tick appears, they are going places.
And we instantly trust their opinion more. We search for their accounts more. We regard them more highly. All because of a little tick.
You see, I feel like there is a lot of the hierachy in life too. Within churches, we look to pastors for answers. If not them, then elderly members of the congregation, or youth leaders.
In school, we look ultimately to the head teacher. Or the deputy heads. Or the teaching staff, and our form tutors.
In a family, my family anyway, it's grandparents, parents, us.
There is such a hierarchy of trust and belief and faith in people.
But why? Where did it all come from? After all, another member of my geography class is going to be way better at helping me in my studies than my headteacher who has a degree in maths. And my sister can help me way more with party-etiquette than my dad. So we do we decide. Why do we follow the sign posts, and the ticks, and just allow it? Why don't we question it?
I guess what I'm saying is to look deeper into the sources you trust. Think about WHY you trust them. And apply the same to you too. You might be younger, have less followers, and know less foreign languages, but you are YOU and you are amazing! Trust yourself more. Stop relying on other people to verify you.
