A- Acceptance

Acceptance

Acceptance, to me, is one of the most important yet difficult characteristics to possess.

By definition, acceptance is:

noun

1.
the act of taking or receiving something offered.
There are many things in both our personal lives, and our lives which we share with others, that need to be accepted. Many things we have to receive, or take.

Sometimes, difficult situations are throw at us. And we just can't do anything about them. It's important to try and accept this - to accept that we can't do anything about it. To accept that it's out of our control.

Similarly, sometimes when difficult situations are throw at us, we have to accept our part in it. We have to receive the situation that is given to us, and then work to the best of our abilities to deal with it. We can't work miracles - after all we're only human - but we have to do our absolute best.

Accepting failure is something there will probably be a whole new blog post on. Sometimes, when life hands you lemons, no matter how hard you try, there will never be lemonade. And that's ok! It really is; it's another part of being human. We need to accept this.

Sometimes, accepting is the LAST thing we want to do. Accepting our failure, our lack of control, the way people are different to us, the death of somebody close - we don't want to accept it. But eventually we have to. Eventually, we can't keep avoiding the issue.

Acceptance is a valuable skill. It takes time and effort. But I think, anyway, that the more we accept things, the more at peace we will find ourselves.

Below are some quotes I felt were particularly applicable to today's theme.

 Buddhist quote Brandmentalist.com:

And so now I pose a question to you: what do you need to accept? How good is your acceptance? Not just of others, but of yourself too...
